BUNKERING SYSTEM

Bunkering system for methanol-fuelled vessels | Auramarine

How the Auramarine bunkering system works

Alternative fuels bring new safety demands. Auramarine's gas and leak detection is built into methanol and ammonia fuel supply systems to identify gas presence and leaks early, giving the crew and the automation system time to act. It is engineered as part of the wider fuel supply system, not bolted on afterwards, so detection, alarming and shutdown logic work as one system from bunkering to the engine.

Bunkering is one of the most safety-critical operations on a vessel using alternative fuels. The bunkering management system monitors and controls the transfer, while the ship-to-shore link (SSL) connects the vessel with the bunker supplier so that an emergency shutdown on either side stops the transfer. Double-wall pipe monitoring, tank management and an inert gas system complete the scope.

Typical scope includes:
bunkering management system; ship-to-shore link (SSL); emergency shutdown (ESD) logic; double-wall pipe monitoring; tank management system; inert gas system.

SAFETY DURING BUNKERING

Gas and leak detection is built into the system, not added afterwards. Detection, alarms and shutdown logic act together, giving the crew and the automation time to respond.

A bunkering system designed for your vessel

Each system is designed to the vessel type, engine configuration and ship layout. Auramarine manages the interfaces with the shipyard, ship owner, class society, engine maker and main automation supplier, and prepares the documentation needed for approval: system description, cause and effect matrices, alarm and ESD diagrams.

Fuel quality before bunkering

For conventional fuels and biofuels, the Porla fuel analyser measures fuel compatibility and stability in the tank and before bunkering.

The analysis is ready in about 90 minutes, which helps the crew avoid mixing incompatible fuels.

See Porla fuel analyser.

Lifecycle support

After delivery, Auramarine supports the system with spare parts, service agreements and in-service support.
